Is THC in all CBD products?

Is THC in all CBD products?

CBD and THC are both compounds that come from the cannabis plant. While both have become popular due to their individual benefits, the terms are often used interchangeably. This, however, is a problem as they are not the same. Because of this, many people looking to purchase CBD products often believe that THC can be found in all of them. However, this is not always the case.

What is the difference between CBD and THC?

With hemp and cannabis products becoming legal in many places across the country, a lot of people are interested in finding out what choices they have. Along with this curiosity comes confusion about what exactly things like CBD and THC are and what they can do. Here are some of the main differences between the two so that you can have a better understanding of them as a whole:

Psychoactive effects

One main area of concern when it comes to CBD and THC products are their psychoactive effects. In other words, many are unsure about which one produces the “high” that is commonly associated with marijuana and some other cannabis derivatives. Although both have a similar chemical structure, CBD is not able to produce a high. THC, on the other hand, does have this effect which is why many opt for the former instead.

Health benefits

A common reason that people are interested in both THC and CBD are for their medical benefits. Both of them are able to do things such as reducing anxiety and treating chronic pain. As mentioned earlier, many end up choosing CBD so they don’t have to experience any psychoactive side effects while still receiving the positive health impact. THC is able to help conditions such as:

  • Pain
  • Muscle spasticity
  • Glaucoma
  • Insomnia
  • Low appetite
  • Nausea
  • Anxiety

While CBD is able to help conditions such as:

  • Pain
  • Seizures
  • Mental disorders
  • Inflammation
  • Migraine
  • Nausea
  • Some forms of bowel disease
  • Anxiety
  • Depression

Legality

A tricky part of CBD and THC is that the laws about cannabis in the United States are continuously changing over time. New bills that have been introduced in the past few years change how the legality and regulations of cannabis products stand. Most cannabis products that are illegal in the United States contain levels of THC. CBD, however, is federally legal because of the fact that it does not cause a high. It is important to research the laws in your own state to determine what is and isn’t allowed.

Which CBD products contain THC?

As mentioned earlier, not all CBD products contain THC, but there are still some forms of the products that do. The factor that changes whether or not CBD oil and other CBD products contain THC is how they are specifically made. Here are some of the ways that CBD products are commonly labeled and what these labels mean in terms of how much THC they contain:

  • Raw/Non THC containing CBD oil: This is a form of oil that is pure CBD distillate. The product is concentrated only with CBD and has none of the other compounds (including THC) that are usually found in the cannabis plant.
  • CBD hemp oil: This form is high-CBD oil which comes from the hemp plant. It can contain THC, but contains less than 0.3% of the substance (this is the current federal limit that still allows it to be legal in all 50 states).
  • Full-spectrum CBD extract: This is oil that comes from hemp or cannabis plants and contains the full spectrum of compounds that are in cannabis. These products contain higher levels of CBD than the other options mentioned which means they are regulated differently.

What is non THC containing CBD oil?

While there are many CBD products that do contain at least some level of THC, some companies offer oil that is completely free of THC. These products are often referred to as non THC containing CBD oil. This form of CBD has quickly grown in popularity over the past several years because it allows users to be completely sure that they will not experience any of the side effects (such as the notorious euphoric high) that usually come along with CBD. This is a great option for people looking to experience the benefits of cannabis related products without having any changes in their mood, behavior, or general lifestyle.
